DO WE HAVE THE GOVERNMENT WE DESERVE?

CAN WE DO BETTER??

THE FITCHBURG REPUBLICAN CITY COMMITTEE WANTS AND NEEDS YOUR HELP!!

Unfortunately our Republican candidates and the Party was defeated in November 2012.  We were defeated, but we are not gone!!  We are dusting ourselves off and are coming back, stronger than ever.  We have many ideas on how to attract new members to join the Party as well at to attend our monthly meetings to help in our activities throughout the year.

Why did we lose, because in part because we did not have YOU.  YOU didn't become involved and participate, you let others do the work.  We were willing and able, but fell short.  It is now your time to join in and help.  We don't need you sitting home feeling sorry for yourself and asking how could "he" have been re-elected.  There are local elections in 2013, an unexpected Senate race, as well as U.S. House positions open again in 2014.  There may also be some special elections in MA that will need all hands on deck to help get out the vote.  Don't sit at home again this time.  Join us this time.  We could have made a difference in 2012, but we didn't have enough supporters to help us get out our vote.  Don't let this happen again.  If you had joined us, we may have changed the results!

"Boston Herald" Wraps Up the DNC Convention

Several articles in the "Boston Herald" wrap up the Democratic National Committee's recent convention in Charlotte, NC.  The opinion of many writers seems to be that the convention failed to reach the height of frenzy that was apparent four years ago.  Here are some of the saplings from the "Boston Herald":

What to Expect from the DNC Convention

Sunday's "Sentinel and Enterprise" editorial addresses the upcoming DNC convention in Charlotte, NC.  Before the opening gavel is even struck, the writer claims that it will be a snooze-fest.  Why?  Because Obama now must run on his record which is abysmal in almost every educated assessment marker.  No longer is Obama seen as charismatic, intellectual and fresh.  He is viewed by many as tired and failing in his goal of bringing "hope and change" to the masses and healing the planet.  Read the September 2, 2012 Editorial:   http://www.sentinelandenterprise.com/editorial/ci_21455709/dems-convention

It's Still George Bush's Fault

A liberal Denver Post Aurora Sentinel opinion piece by lifelong Democrat Chuck Green. It is time that we asked George Bush to step aside so that Obama can get his presidency going.
Here's an opinion piece by Chuck Green who writes "Greener Pastures" for the Denver Post Aurora Sentinel...one of the more liberal papers in the country. Additionally, Mr. Green is a lifelong Democrat...so this is rather a stunning piece...
Obama is victim of Bush's failed promises! Barack Obama is setting a record-setting number of records during his first term in office: Largest budget ever. Largest deficit ever. Largest number of broken promises ever. Most self-serving speeches ever. Largest number of agenda-setting failures ever. Fastest dive in popularity ever!
Wow! Talk about change.
Just three years ago, fresh from his inauguration celebrations, President Obama was flying high. After one of the nation's most inspiring political campaigns, the election of America 's first black president had captured the hopes and dreams of millions. To his devout followers, it was inconceivable that a year later his administration would be gripped in self-imposed crisis.
Of course, they don't see it as self-imposed. It's all George Bush's fault ! George Bush, who doesn't have a vote in congress and who no longer occupies the White House, is to blame for it all.
He broke Obama's promise, to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.
He broke Obama's promise, to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.
He broke Obama's promise, to end earmarks.
He broke Obama's promise, to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.
He broke Obama's promise, to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year.
He broke Obama's promise, to make peace with direct, no precondition talks with America 's most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office, ushering in a new era of global cooperation.
He broke Obama's promise, to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs.
He broke Obama's promise, to end no-compete contracts with the government.
He broke Obama's promise, to disclose the names of all attendees at closed White House meetings.
He broke Obama's promise, for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters.
He broke Obama's promise, to have chosen a home church to attend Sunday services with his family by Easter.
Yes, it's all George Bush's fault! President Obama is nothing more than a puppet in the never-ending failed Bush administration. If only George Bush wasn't still in charge, all of President Obama's problems would be solved. His promises would have been kept, the economy would be back on track, Iran would have stopped its work on developing a nuclear bomb and would be negotiating a peace treaty with Israel . North Korea would have ended its tyrannical regime, and integrity would have been restored to the federal government.
Oh, and did I mention what it would be like, if the Democrats, under the previous leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, didn't have the heavy yoke of George Bush around their necks? There would be no ear marks, no closed-door drafting of bills, no increase in deficit spending, no special-interest influence (unions), no vote buying (Nebraska, Louisiana).
If only George Bush wasn't still in charge, we'd have real change by now.
All the broken promises, all the failed legislation and delay (health care reform, immigration reform) is not President Obama's fault or the fault of the Democrat-controlled Congress. It's all George Bush's fault!
Take for example the decision of Eric Holder, the president's attorney general, to hold terrorists' trials in New York City. Or his decision to try the Christmas Day underpants bomber as a civilian.
Two disastrous decisions.
Certainly those were bad judgments based on poor advice from George Bush!
Need more proof?
You might recall that when Scott Brown won the election to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts, capturing "The Ted Kennedy Seat", President Obama said, Brown's victory was the result of the same voter anger that propelled Obama into office in 2008. People were still angry about George Bush and the policies of the past 10 years. And they wanted change.
Yes, according to the president, the voter rebellion in Massachusetts, was George Bush's fault.
Therefore, in retaliation, they elected a Republican to the Ted Kennedy seat, ending a half-century of domination by Democrats. It is all George Bush's fault !
Will the failed administration of George Bush ever end, and the time for hope and and change ever arrive???
Will President Obama ever accept responsibility for something/anything? (Chuck Green is a veteran Colorado journalist and former editor-in-chief of The Denver Post.)

Romney/Paul's Quick Trip to Visit Isaac

Immediately following the RNC convention in Tampa, Romney and Ryan took a quick jog off to LA on Friday morning to view and visit Gov. Bobby Jindal and meet with hurricane victims.  This caught the Obama campaign with their pants down, changing the President's plans to include a visit to the storm wracked south on Monday.  Read the "Boston Herald" assessment of Mitt's trip in Saturday, September 1, 2012 edition:  http://bostonherald.com/news/us_politics/view.bg?articleid=1061157179

Romney's Side Trip Made Obama Look "All Wet"

"Boston Herald" columnist, Joe Battenfeld writes in his article on September 1, 2012 that Romney's quick trip to LA showed Presidential leadership and ability to make a responsible decision in a crisis.  Read Joe Battenfeld's column:  http://bostonherald.com/news/columnists/view/20220901now_obama_looks_all_wet/srvc=home&position=3

Paul Ryan Scared The Dems

Paul Ryan took on the Dems in his Wednesday RNC speech.  Michael Graham, "Boston Hearld" opinion writer, in his column on Friday, August 31, 2012 says that the Dems are in a "war on the truth".   Read Michael Graham's column:  http://www.sentinelandenterprise.com/local/ci_21433320/fsu-freshman-is-youngest-mass-delegate-at-gop
